Support
Conservation at Fynbos & Beyond
At Fynbos & Beyond, conservation is not just a principle — it is our purpose. We work to protect, restore, and celebrate the extraordinary biodiversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom, one of the most unique and threatened ecosystems on Earth.
Our approach combines science, storytelling, community involvement, and hands-on restoration to ensure that natural heritage is preserved for generations to come.
Protecting the Cape Floral Kingdom
The Fynbos biome is home to thousands of plant species found nowhere else in the world. Yet it faces increasing pressure from urban development, invasive alien species, climate change, and habitat loss.
We focus on:
- Restoration of degraded fynbos landscapes
- Removal and management of invasive alien vegetation
- Protection of indigenous plant species and pollinator networks
- Supporting ecological resilience in urban and peri-urban areas
Conservation
Restoration & Rehabilitation Projects
We actively participate in and support restoration initiatives that bring damaged ecosystems back to life.
This includes:
- Indigenous vegetation rehabilitation in disturbed sites
- Seed collection and propagation of local fynbos species
- Rewilding initiatives in partnership with landowners and conservation bodies
- Monitoring biodiversity recovery over time
Our work is guided by ecological principles that prioritise long-term sustainability over short-term fixes.
Conservation
Community-Based Conservation
Conservation succeeds when communities are involved. We work closely with local residents, schools, and organisations to build awareness and participation in environmental stewardship.
Our community programmes include:
- Indigenous gardening workshops
- Environmental education and youth engagement
- Citizen science and biodiversity monitoring
- Volunteer conservation days
We believe that when people connect with nature, they become its strongest protectors.
