PROCEEDS SUPPORT THE FOUNDATION'S ACTIVITIES
My Fynbos Explorer: Activity & Colouring Book Ages 6–10, and curious adults too · 36 pages · Printable PDF (A4)
The Cape Floral Kingdom is one of the most extraordinary places on Earth. It has around 9,600 plant species, and more than two thirds of them grow nowhere else. My Fynbos Explorer turns children into real field detectives as they discover 20 remarkable indigenous plants, from the mighty King Protea to the insect-eating Cape Sundew.
This is more than a colouring book. Each species page combines a large botanical line drawing to colour with the plant's scientific and Afrikaans names, a "Did you know?" fact, where to spot it, a field detective tip for identifying it, and its ecosystem partner, such as the sunbird, sugarbird, beetle or butterfly that depends on it. A personal field log lets young explorers record when and where they found each plant, with space for a quick sketch.
Once they've met all 20 plants, they can test what they've learned with a word search, a matching game, spot-the-odd-one-out, a Cape Sugarbird maze and a 10-question fynbos quiz. Then they head outdoors with the scavenger hunt checklist. A colour photo field guide at the back helps them recognise the plants in the wild, and a Certificate of Discovery celebrates every Junior Fynbos Explorer who completes the journey.
It's perfect for family hikes, holidays, homeschooling, classrooms, eco-clubs and visitors to the Cape. Print it at home and take it on your next walk up Table Mountain, through Kirstenbosch or along the West Coast.
Every purchase supports the Fynbos & Beyond Foundation NPC's environmental education work, helping the next generation fall in love with the Cape's one-of-a-kind natural heritage.
